Starting out in the 1960s, the band leader sold millions of records, including a remarkable 75 albums, of his trademark upbeat and happy reworkings of classic pop and rock tunes.
He made his final UK concert appearances in March at his 89th and 90th shows at the Royal Albert Hall, as part of his farewell tour.
"I can't talk about goodbye - it's a terrible feeling, " he said at the time.
In tribute to one of popular music's greatest showmen, we have put together nine of his best live performances, starting off with Last in toe-tapping action in 2014.
